LUDHIANA: Ludhiana Municipal Corporation (LMC) framed a monitoring committee on October 31 to keep a check on the functioning of sewage treatment plants (STP).
The officials will monitor STP on Jamalpur Road, which is considered non-functional. The other two STPs in Bhuttian and Balloke are also non-functional. These STPs have been releasing untreated water in Buddha Nullah.KP Brar, Commissioner, LMC, held a meeting with the officials of operation and maintenance cell to frame the committee. The officials of the branch were assigned the responsibility of ensuring the proper functioning of treatment plants.
The concerned officers will be accountable in case of any shortcoming.
Ravinder Garg, superintending engineer of operation and maintenance cell, while talking about Jamalpur STP, said, “if the plant is non-functional, the concerned officers will give a report of the same and we will take the contractor for not running the plant properly.
