NEW DELHI: The Delhi Pollution Control Board (DPCC) fined 10 people Rs 10,000 for burning stubble in Mundka village in Delhi’s West district. A first information report (FIR) was also lodged against them on the basis of the complaints by the DPCC. The residents of Mundka also complained that plastic and other waste materials are being burned by local businessmen.
The DPCC said that strict action will be taken against the offenders by the Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Punjabi Bagh. DPCC team also visited the local farmers in Mundka and cautioned them about the legal outcomes of stubble burning in the future.
The Public Works Department (PWD) was also charged with a heavy fine of Rs 20 lakhs for negligence and disobeying the anti-pollution measures.
