NEW DELHI: Mr Vinod Kumar Yadav, Chairman, Indian Railway Board, on Tuesday, July 21, said that the railways is working towards connecting all the capitals of North-Eastern(NE) states to the rail network by the year 2030. He further said that they are carrying out a project that will link all the NE state capitals. Presently, except Sikkim, all NE states are connected to the rail network.
Vinod said that the capitals of Assam, Tripura and Arunachal are already connected, and a target has been set for the capital connectivity of Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Meghalaya, work on which is already underway. By March 2022, Manipur, and Meghalaya, will be connected; Nagaland and Mizoram by March 2023, and Sikkim will be connected by December 2022. He mentioned that in the last five years, considerable work has been carried out in NE India and in next three years, the railways plans to undertake more projects there.
