More than 14 lakh houses have been built across the state, including 8.68 lakh homes under the PMAY (Urban) and 5.57 lakh under the PMAY (Rural).

The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2015, aims to provide affordable housing for economically weaker sections and homeless individuals to improve their living standards. A statement revealed that more than 5.40 lakh homes have been approved in the names of women or under joint ownership. Notably, 3.22 lakh homes (60 per cent) have been allotted to beneficiaries from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.

Gujarat is also leading the nation in supporting over six lakh beneficiaries with their first housing loan under the Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS) component of PMAY (Urban). Additionally, the state became the first in India to receive approval for converting 393 homes in Surat’s Suda area into rental housing under Model-01, within three months of the announcement.
