GANDHINAGAR, Gujarat:  The Chief Minister of Gujarat, Bhupendra Patel, announced a budget of ₹100 crore for 157 municipalities in the state for the resurfacing and repairing of urban roads damaged during the monsoon rains.

The repairing and resurfacing of the damaged urban roads by the municipalities will help in improving road safety and road quality, ultimately resulting in ease of living for the residents. For this reason, the CM has taken a proactive approach by providing the money to the municipalities beforehand. This will allow them to initiate and complete the repair work promptly.

Municipalities have been grouped into different categories to allocate ₹100 crore of funds. The 22 municipalities placed in Category A will get ₹1 crore each. Similarly, the 30 civic bodies falling into Category B will get ₹80 lakh each, the 60 civic bodies in Category C will get ₹60 lakh, and the 45 municipalities in Category D will get around ₹40 lakh each.

Overall, the state government has allocated about ₹810.95 crore for municipalities under the Mukhyamantri Shahri Sadak Yojana for the financial year 2023–24.
