NEW DELHI: Northeast region of the country will get an infrastructure boost worth Rs 13,000 crore. The fund will be provided by Japan. The project includes improvement in water supply in Guwahati, better sewage network, and the northeast road network project between Meghalaya and Assam.
Ministry of development of northeast region (DoNER) said, “There are some other schemes also which includes forest management project and biodiversity conservation project in Sikkim, forest management in Nagaland, sustainable forest management in Tripura, technical cooperation for sustainable agriculture and irrigation in Mizoram”.
The Japanese government has planned to invest an amount of 205.784 billion yen which is almost equal to Rs 13,000 crore in several new projects and also some ongoing projects in the northeast region.
