71 ULBs to get waste processing plant; MRF in 86 civic bodies in Rajasthan

JAIPUR, Rajasthan: In a recently presented state budget, the Rajasthan government has introduced the provision to create waste processing plants in 71 urban local bodies, Material Recovery Facilities (MRF) in 86, and legacy waste remediation in 131 civic bodies. An amount of ₹650 crore has been allocated for these activities.

To improve the overall household waste collection process, the budget has proposed a vehicle tracking system and Radio Frequency Identification Devices (RFID). Also, ₹135 crore has been allocated to mechanise and automate the intermediate transfer stations operated by municipal corporations. 

Similarly, ₹14 crore has been allocated to build 67 bio/pink toilet complexes in markets and other public spaces for women in the first phase of the bio/pink toilet project. Contruction of these complexes will be completed in two years.

Electrical lines will be laid underground in the civic bodies, for which ₹150 crore has been set aside. Another ₹65 crore has been allocated to establish fire brigades to improve the fire safety of residents in cities.
