NEW DELHI: The third longest extradosed bridge, to be built over River Ganga hence called Ganga Bridge, which will connect Bihar and Jharkhand, is to be completed by October 2024.
The bridge will connect Manihari in Bihar to Sahibganj in Jharkhand. The bridge will be six kilometres long and it will reduce the travel time between the two states by 1/10. Once completed, this will become the third longest extradosed bridge in the world.
This bridge is part of a project that aims to build 21.68 kilometre long road link (NH-133B) between Bihar and Jharkhand. The project includes the Ganga Bridge, Manihari Bypass (5.5 Kilometres) and increasing the breadth of NH-131A to a four-lane highway. Thus, reducing the congestion on Vikram Shila Setu bridge in Bhagalpur. The estimated cost of the project stands at Rs 1900 crores.
Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highway, Government of India, posted on his Twitter account, “Connecting India with Prosperity!
