LUCKNOW: Toilets will soon be available in the Mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) trains. As per the railway administration, by 2019 this facility will be available in the MEMU trains running from Charbagh railway station. A shed is being built by the Northern Railways at Malhour station for the repair and maintenance work of MEMU trains.
Satish Kumar, divisional railway manager, Northern Railways, said, “In the MEMU train, travelers will get the facility of toilet very soon, it is being prepared and gradually this facility will be started in every coach. The trains will also be repaired for the next year.”
EMU (Electrical Multiple Unit) and MEMU are the two types of local trains run in the Northern Railways’ network. In both of these trains, the facility of the toilet is not available for the passengers.
Railways will now equip the MEMU trains with toilets for the convenience of the passengers. New coaches are being prepared with the toilets installed in each coach of the MEMU train.
