Karnataka: 7–day quarantine mandatory for returnees from European countries

BENGALURU: Government of Karnataka has mandated a seven day quarantine for travelers arriving in the state from some European countries such as the United Kingdom (UK), Denmark and Netherlands. K Sudhakar, Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Karnataka, said on Monday, December 21, that those who arrived in the state in the last 14 days would be traced in the next 24 hours and subjected to RT-PCR test.

The Technical Advisory Committee, Department of Health and Family Welfare, held a meeting with Sudhakar to discuss further steps and process in this regard. Sudhakar in a tweet pointed out the suspension of flights from UK by central government and said that state has also mandated the seven day quarantine for travellers from UK, Denmark and Netherlands.

Sudhakar urged people in the tweet that there is no need to panic and people should continue following all the precautionary measures and stay safe. He added that online kiosks will be active at the airport to screen travellers. He also said that strict actions will be taken on the owners of pubs, restaurants, etc who do not follow government guidelines for Christmas and New Year celebrations.
