NEW DELHI: Delhi’s air was on the verge of turning severe in the morning on October 30. It witnessed worst air quality of the season as stubble burning in neighboring states of Punjab and Haryana still contributes to air pollution in the capital. According to the data of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the air quality of Delhi was recorded at 397, just three points below the severe level and highest of this season.

The State-of-the-art Air Quality and Weather Forecast System (SAFAR) said “Air quality index will be in the upper level of very poor for the next three days. The main reason is heavy biomass burning in the past 24-hours and local calm winds.”

Due to alarming pollution levels in Delhi NCR, Environment Pollution (Prevention & Control) Authority (EPCA) instructed the authorities concerned to ensure the closure of construction work from November 1 to November 10.
