NEW DELHI: The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has directed the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) and the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) to look into the issues raised up in two separate complaints against installation of mobile towers in residential areas, and furnish action-taken reports.
A bench headed by S P Wangdi, NGT judicial member said, “Considering the facts and circumstances set out in the application, we deem it appropriate to forward this complaint to the DPCC and SDMC to jointly examine the factual aspects set out in the application and thereafter, take appropriate action in accordance with law.”
The NGT directions came post a complaint forwarded by a group of Dwarka residents who alleged that a mobile tower was being installed in their colony by another resident without their permission. Another complaint was forwarded by residents of Tikri Kalan alleging that the installation of a mobile tower in Kalyan Gaon was a health concern for people residing nearby.
While noting that the DPCC has a policy pertaining to the installation of mobile towers, the tribunal directed the committee to look into the allegations.
