SRINAGAR, Jammu and Kashmir: Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) was accorded second rank in the Plastic Waste Management category at the Plastic Recycling Conference Asia 2.0 held in New Delhi.
Chandra Mohan Gupta, the current Mayor of JMC, was present at the event. JMC has been praised for its efforts to recycle the plastic waste generated in the city. The corporation has introduced initiatives like the ‘Plastic Lao – Thaila/ Mask Pao’ and has developed infrastructure for the collection and transportation of dry and plastic waste. Moreover, it has been making efforts to bring behavioural changes in the lifestyle of the people through awareness campaigns. ‘Sustainable Campaign’ is one such campaign to encourage the segregation of the waste at the source and to ensure the engagement of all strata of society, that includes senior citizens, NGOs, educational institutions, students, parents, regional welfare associations, media houses, and all the concerned department.
