Ichalkaranji in Maharashtra to become a Municipal Corporation

KOLHAPUR: The Government of Maharashtra has decided to create a new municipal corporation in Ichalkaranji, a city in the district of Kolhapur. In a statement issued by the office of the Chief Minister, the government has elicited suggestions and comments from the citizens regarding the same. Ichalkaranj is a growing urban center, known for textile manufacturing industry, and is currently a municipal council. There’s only one municipal corporation in the district. At the same time it has been suggested by the corporators that the civic limits of the region should also be expanded. This will increase revenue for the corporation.
