PANAJI: The Government of Goa is set to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Isha Outreach of Sadhguru Jagdish Vasudev on August 23, according to Chief Minister of Goa Pramod Sawant. The MoU, which will be signed between the Department of Environment and Climate Change, Government of Goa and Isha Outreach, is aimed at preserving soils and the coast. Addressing a conference in Panaji, CM Sawant urged the youth, agriculturists, environmentalists and NGOs to take part in the movement started by Sadhguru Jagadish Vasudev.
The program’s motto was to exchange expertise, training, empowerment of stakeholders, and public awareness. From the standpoint of agricultural production and food security, the emphasis shall be on sustainable soil health management. Additionally, he stated that Isha Outreach would inform the state government of its soil policy and work to protect Goa’s soil and coastline.
The three-year MoU will work in the areas of sustainable farming system, food security and sustainable food system, degradation of food producing agriculture soil, natural and organic farming practices and other concerned areas. A previous round of complaints about sea erosion and its effects on tourism had come from Goa’s coastal MLAs.
