CHENNAI, Tamil Nadu: Third and final meeting of the G20 Disaster Risk Reduction Working Group is being held in Chennai from July 24 to 26. A communiqué and joint statement will be issued later when the meeting concludes.
This is the first instance where a dedicated group for Disaster Risk Reduction has been established to address the climate challenges faced by the world, highlighting the gravity of the issue for the host nation India, reads the press note.
This meeting brings together world leaders, experts and knowledge partners with the motive to engage in a healthy discussion and formulate a communiqué encapsulating recommendations and commitment about the priority areas.
PK Mishra, Principle Secretary to the Prime Minister and Mami Mizutori, Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General and Raditya Jati, Deputy for System and Strategy, National Disaster Mitigation Agency, Indonesia, are some of the notable dignitaries in the meeting.
