NEW DELHI: The Government of NCT of Delhi, led by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, raised the dearness allowance (DA) for labourers in Delhi on Friday, May 20. With the latest revision in the DA, the monthly wages for unskilled labourers have been raised from Rs 16,064 to Rs 16,506. Similarly, the wages for semi-skilled labourers have been increased from Rs 17,693 to Rs 18,187.

Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia said that the step has been taken in the interest of the labour class amidst the rising inflation. He said that the move will benefit unskilled, semi-skilled, skilled and other workers in all scheduled employment under the aegis of the Delhi government. He added that the steps have been taken in the interest of the poor and working-class, who have suffered disproportionately due to the ongoing pandemic.

The Government of Delhi also revised the minimum wages of the supervisor and the clerical cadre of employees. For non-matriculated employees, minimum wages have been increased from Rs 17,693 to Rs 18,187 and for matriculated employees, from Rs 19,473 to Rs 20,019.
