Capital leads change with cycle tracks

NEW DELHI: New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) launched an initiative towards normalcy and road safety at a time when physical and sports activities have been restricted because of the pandemic. It inaugurated ‘NDMC Cycle4Change’, a 6 km pilot corridor dedicated for cycle rides in New Delhi area. The corridor stretches from India Gate to Jor Bagh Metro station via Lodhi Garden.

The guided tour will be held over nine days, from October 2 to October 10. The timings specified for cycling is from 6 am to 9 am and 5 pm to 7 pm every day. Participants can bring their cycles or rent one from the public bike-sharing stations in NDMC areas. To hoist the experience of cyclists the NDMC said, “This pilot corridor will provide a unique cycling experience around the playful recreational space surrounded by gorgeous wall paintings.” For the safety of the cyclists, NDMC has deployed Marshals.

 E-bike, scooters and motorcycles are prohibited on cycle tracks. Amit Singla, Secretary, NDMC, added, “Based on the success of this pilot project, many more corridors will be dedicated in other areas in the coming winters.”
