ANKARA: Zorlu Energy, a Turkish Energy Provider, has been recognised for its contribution to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals through its ‘Zero Carbon Footprint Forests Project.’ The Zero Carbon Footprint Forests Project, which was implemented in the cause of addressing the climate catastrophe and ensuring a sustainable future, received the silver achievement award at the Corporate Social Responsibility Association of Turkey’s Sustainable Development Goals Awards.

In 2010, Zorlu Energy launched the “Zero Carbon Footprint Forests Project” in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Government of Turkey and the Mehmet Zorlu Foundation, with the goal of planting 1.2 million saplings by 2030, to offset the carbon footprint of its operations. During the initiative, the corporation also announced that they plan to plant 90,000 seedlings each year. Zorlu Energy is Turkey’s largest geothermal firm, with a total installed geothermal power producing capacity of 290 MW.

“At Zorlu Energy, we seek to achieve zero carbon footprint, as well as implementing decarbonisation-oriented ways of doing business in order to address the growing global climate catastrophe,” stated Funda Kücükosmanoglu, Corporate Communications Group Manager, Zorlu Energy. He informed that by focusing on developing a restorative business model and value chain, they are attempting to contribute to the decarbonisation and biodiversity growth of not just our own activities, but also the country.
