NEW DELHI: The survey analysis for 2021, conducted by the Wheebox National Employability Test (WNET), revealed that the employability of women in India is higher than men. 46.8 per cent of women in India are employable, compared to 45.91 per cent of employable Indian men. The survey reported that that trend of more employable women has been witnessing a steady rise over the past three years. The report of the analysis said that this indicates that women of the country are the biggest resource pool for industries to leverage in the coming years.

The WNET assessed over 65,000 candidates and stated that the number of women enrolled in colleges and degree programmes has increased over the past few years. Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh emerged as the top three states in terms of having highest employability in the survey. Bangalore bagged the position of most preferred cities to work for aspiring professionals in the report.

According to the analysis, the top ten states with employable talent includes Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Telangana, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and West Bengal. The analysis report prepared by Wheebox, in partnership with Taggd, CII, AICTE, AIU and UNDP, noted that only 46 per cent of the youth is currently employable in India, which is far less than the number from the previous year, thus reflecting on the skill gap in education.
