NEW DELHI: According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), India records the highest single day spike on Friday, July 10 with 26,506 COVID-19 cases and 475 deaths in the last 24 hours. With this the total COVID tally reached 7,93,802, out of which 2,76,685 are active cases and 21,604 have succumbed to the deadly coronavirus.
The country has recorded more than two lakh COVID-19 cases since July 1 and has witnessed over 20,000 infections every day since July 3. There were 19,135 patients of the viral disease who were cured between Thursday and Friday morning taking the number of those sent home from hospitals to 495,513. With that, India’s recovery rate is now 62.42%.
According to Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 2,83,659 samples were tested for coronavirus on Thursday, July 9, taking the total number of sample testing up to 1,10,24,491.
Maharashtra continues to be the worst affected state from coronavirus with 2,30,599 COVID cases, followed by Tamil Nadu with 1,26,581 cases and Delhi with 1,07,051 cases.
