WHO recommends flexible labelling of COVID-19 vaccine

NEW DELHI: To provide quick availability of COVID-19 vaccine as soon as it is approved for use, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has advised universal (standard) label for the vaccines along with flexibilities like having only ‘manufacturing date’ rather than an ‘expiry date’, and vials to carry a statement saying ‘for pandemic use only’.

Dr V K Paul, Member, NITI-Aayog and head of the National Expert Group on Vaccine Administration on Covid-19 (NEGVAC), said that they are examining the recommendations made by WHO’s Regulatory Advisory Group, and will take a decision after examining them in detail.
