KOLKATA: Prior to the assembly election in the state, Mamata Banerjee, Chief Minister of West Bengal, on Monday, February 15, virtually launched the ‘Maa’ scheme. Under the scheme, the government will provide a meal at a nominal cost of Rs 5 to deprived and poor people.
The needful will get a platter of rice, dal, vegetable and egg curry. While introducing the scheme at the virtual event, Banerjee said that the state government will provide a subsidy of Rs 15 per plate. She added that the self-help groups will operate the kitchens from 1 pm to 3 pm every day and such kitchens will be set up everywhere in the state gradually.
