Urban Development Conclave calls for digital intervention in urban development

NEW DELHI: Urban and Real Estate sector, Town & Country Planning Department (TCPD), Government of Haryana and Haryana Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) organised a two-day Urban Development Conclave on February 25 and 26.

Raman Aggarwal, Founder & CEO, Jupitice Justice Technologies, said that there is need to align urban development with the vision of National Urban Digital Mission (NUDM) to create a national digital ecosystem and improve ease of living for citizens by ensuring inclusive, efficient and citizen-centric governance. He added that there is a need to leverage emerging technologies in an effective way to bring change in people’s lives.

In January 2022, Jupitice Justice Technologies had signed a Memorandum of Understanding with RERA Gurugram to launch Digital RERA Court to facilitate dispute resolution and deliver justice in a simpler, quicker, safer, and transparent manner. Aggarwal was invited to the conclave to share his expertise in developing technology solutions for addressing and resolving numerous challenges faced by various stakeholders in the sector of real estate. He highlighted the need for technology to enhance interoperability, scalability, and flexibility of the urban ecosystem. He said that it is crucial to understand that society does not exist in the physical world alone, but also in cyberspace. Therefore, he added that urban development should seek for a data-driven governance model to plan inclusive and citizen centric policies and schemes.

KK Khandelwal, Chairman, Haryana RERA, Gurugram, also called for digital intervention in urban development and said that it will strengthen the capacity of urban ecosystem to address the issue of scale and speed. Devendra Singh, Additional Chief Secretary, TCPD; Manoj Joshi, Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs; Government of India; and Parveen Jain, Haryana President, NAREDCO, were among the people who attended the conclave.
