LUCKNOW, Uttar Pradesh: The Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) has come up with a new initiative under the “Atal Industrial Infrastructure Mission.” Under this initiative, the UPSIDA has put forward the maintenance contract for 34 industrial areas in Uttar Pradesh, which were earlier maintained by the civic bodies. The development authority has projected the maintenance of these 34 industrial areas in 2024–25 will cost ₹43 crore.

Currently, UPSIDA is looking after the maintenance and monitoring of over 156 industrial areas. These areas are spread across 55 districts in Uttar Pradesh. In the list of 156 industrial areas, 34 will be added. These 34 industrial areas were earlier being maintained by the urban local bodies. UPSIDA is taking over the maintenance of these areas as a lack of funds in the urban local bodies is greatly hampering their maintenance.

Also, UPSIDA is giving effect to 45 annual maintenance contracts across 58 industrial areas. The spending of the body for these contracts is said to be ₹39.94 crore. As part of these contracts, the UPSIDA is working on essential services such as the cleaning of drains, whose network is measured to be about 920 km. Additionally, the 450 km long road network in these areas also falls under the jurisdiction of UPSIDA. For the upgradation of the drainage network in six industrial areas, the Government of Uttar Pradesh has allocated about 437 crore. Around ₹303 crore out of the 437 crore will be spent on upgradation and flood management under the new “Atal Industrial Infrastructure Scheme,” aimed at overall long-term sustainability.
