UP’s urban bodies increased to 734 in 3 years: Yogi Adityanath

LUCKNOW: The urban bodies in Uttar Pradesh (UP) have increased to 734 as compared to 654 in 2017, said Chief Minister of UP Yogi Adityanath. While speaking at Azadi 75- New Urban India: Transforming Urban Landscape Conference-cum-expo, he said that the cities have been able to expand their status of Nagar Panchayat. 

Adityanath said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttar Pradesh has been able to “peak new heights” in terms of development under the “new India”. He further emphasized the state’s COVID-19 vaccine administration achievement under the National Vaccination Coverage. “Uttar Pradesh had administered over 11 crore vaccine doses till now. Moreover, 8 crore COVID-19 tests have also been conducted”, said the CM. 

The three-day urban conclave was inaugurated by PM Modi in Lucknow. He digitally handed over the keys to over 75,000 beneficiaries in 75 districts of the state under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana- Urban scheme. Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India, stated that the central government has sanctioned over 17.3 lakh houses under the aforementioned scheme, benefitting over 8.8 lakh people so far. 

At the event, PM Modi also flagged off 75 electric buses that are equipped with advanced intelligent transport system technology such as panic buttons, air conditioning, CCTV, etc.
