LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh on Thursday, April 29, received its biggest consignment of oxygen containing 600 tonnes of the life-saving gas which is up from an average of 100-150 tonnes which might end the emergency for the time being. Additional Chief Secretary Avinash Awasthi said that this includes 321 tonnes of medical oxygen supplied by the Food and Drugs Administration.
Awasthi added that the state has an extra allotment of 850 tonnes of oxygen which is the highest among all the states. The state has also started its oxygen monitoring system which is a first-of-its-kind 24×7 oxygen-tracking module which enables the real-time monitoring of the GPS-fitted tankers. This monitoring system was set-up by Rodic Consultants Pvt Ltd with Food and Drugs Administration, Department of Medical Education, the Department of Medical Health and Family Welfare and the Department of Transport and Home Affairs.
The control room will provide minute-by-minute information on oxygen demand in hospitals in various districts, allotment of oxygen and loading and live location of the vehicles. Some of the state-run medical colleges in Banda, Azamgarh, Bahraich, Basti, Jalaun and Ayodhya will get their oxygen-producing plants. These plants will be installed at private institutions as well.
