LUCKNOW, Uttar Pradesh: The municipal corporations of Lucknow, Varanasi, Agra, and Prayagraj have been instructed to ensure 100 per cent online attendance along with digital signatures of all employees by January 31, 2023. This move by the corporations aims to reduce the financial burden of the local bodies and ensure better attendance of employees deputed for field jobs and office work.

Public service vehicles like sewerage cleaning, road sweeping, and garbage disposal among others will also be monitored centrally through a dashboard in the four cities.

Ashok Singh, Chief Tax Assessment Officer said, “The regular (permanent) staff is already registering its attendance through the online system. We will include workers on contract or hired through manpower suppliers or contractors on the online system soon. He also mentioned that live tracking of the public service vehicles has already been done in Lucknow.”

A K Sharma, Minister for Urban Development and Energy, Government of Uttar Pradesh, has instructed the senior officials to gear up the four cities ahead of the G20 summit.

Being the largest among the four local bodies and with 4,500 permanent staff and 10,000 workers, the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) officials stated that they have already taken steps to plug the loopholes in the attendance of contractual employees.
