LUCKNOW, Uttar Pradesh: The state government of Uttar Pradesh has requested all the civic bodies to carry out self-assessments along the lines of the corporate companies.
The Chief Minister of the state, Yogi Adityanath has directed the Department of Urban Development to prepare a standard format that could be circulated to all municipal corporations and local bodies through which feedback would be collected.
This way, it will help the state to gear up for the Swachh Bharat Mission goals and achieve higher scores in the upcoming Swachh Survekshan.
Amrit Abhijat, Principal Secretary of the Urban Development Department said that the exercise was initiated in April and that municipal corporations and councils have already provided their response.
“All ULBs have been asked to provide their feedback by August end failing which action would be taken. This action sought by the government is focused on the capacity of the civic bodies when it comes to collecting, disposing, treating and recycling waste,” he said.
A high-level meeting will be organised to develop a road map that will enable the local bodies with limited resources to manage waste disposal challenges.
