UNICEF, ASCI join hands to make way forward for child development

HYDERABAD: The state government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with UNICEF and the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) for preparing a comprehensive report and workable plan encompassing issues like children’s education, health, safety and hygiene, among others. The MoU was signed after the two organisations UNICEF and ASCI agreed to develop a workable plan for child welfare and development in urban areas of the State of Telangana.

The MoU was signed by Arvind Kumar, Principal Secretary, Municipal Administration Department on behalf of state government, Yasmin Ali Haque, representative of UNICEF and V Srinivasacharyulu, Director, ASCI in presence of S K Joshi, Chief Secretary on April 22.

The Chief Secretary welcomed the initiative and said the two organisations would submit their report along with their recommendations within a week. The government, on its part, stressed the need for incorporating child-friendly aspects in planning all round development in urban areas.

Requesting the two agencies to focus on medical counselling for children and individual sanitation,
Chief Secretary said the government would set milestones with specific time frames while drafting plans for their development.
