BENGALURU: The Karnataka Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) have signed a statement of agreement to boost entrepreneurial and employment prospects for the state’s youth. The agreement was signed on Friday, December 10.
The agreement was signed as part of the state level initiative named “Code- Unnati”. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed in the presence of C N Ashwath, Minister of Higher Education, Government of Karnataka. The initiative is supported by SAP India, a software company, lab’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategies. It will be implemented in Bengaluru Rural, Ramanagara, Dakshina Kannada and Raichuru. By involving the United Nations volunteers, it aims to improve entrepreneurship and employment opportunities in the state.
Entrepreneurship development is set to allow the training of 3000 students. The goal is to spread awareness on entrepreneurship as well as to gauge the interest and potential of students in setting up enterprises. Industry Connect would include visits to industries to learn about actual processes, skills in use, skill gaps and business models, as well as internship and apprenticeship opportunities and industry experts giving guest lectures in universities.
