The UDD pressed several vehicles into service to spray areas in each municipal body with disinfectant 1 per cent sodium hypochlorite solution as a way to deal with surging coronavirus infections in the state. The department has been carrying out cleanliness campaigns in all revenue villages of 75 districts in the state. Official said that under this campaign, cleaning, sanitisation and fogging were carried out at a rapid pace. Moreover, special arrangements have been made to lift bio-medical waste from areas where citizens in large number are under home isolation.

The official added that around 60,569 surveillance committees have been set up in 58,194 gram panchayats to provide relief and timely medical facilities to villagers against the deadly second wave of coronavirus. People in these committees are to make door-to-door visits and check body temperatures, record oxygen level and check for other symptoms in people.
