GUWAHATI: In order to enjoy the scenic view of Northeast India, Piyush Goel, Railway Minister has given the green signal to introduce Vistadome coaches in trains operating on tourist routes of the Northeast Frontier Railway.
The key highlight of these coaches is the glass roof that enables passengers to enjoy the landscape beauty outside the train. This will also helpful to boost the tourism in Northeast India. These coaches have wooden interiors and a capacity of 35-40 passengers each.
The Northeast Frontier Railway has identified Kumarghat-Agartala hill section, Lumding-Badarpur hill section and certain section of upper Assam for the Vistadome coaches train. Pranav Jyoti Sharma, PR officer Northeast Frontier Railway said, “We identified these areas because they had maximum greenery. This is a view which will sell. The price of tickets will be a little different.
It is to be mentioned that the ‘Vistadome coaches’ in Darjeeling Himalayan Railway which also comes under the Northeast Frontier Railway has features like multiple television screens providing infotainment to passengers, automatic sliding compartment doors, GPS based info system, wide side door for physically challenged passengers, LED lights and much more.
