TN government hospital effectively treats COVID-19 patients

CHENNAI: Three COVID-19 patients, two of them with a lung infection between 75 and 95 per cent, were sent home after successful treatment at the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital (RGGGH),  said a top health department official from the same hospital on Thursday, December 31.

J Radhakrishnan, Health Secretary of the Government of Tamil Nadu, said that the treatment of two men and an old woman at one of the oldest healthcare institutions in the country, RGGGH, and their recovery and discharge is a significant success story during these difficult times of the pandemic. He added that the men, aged 37 and 45, had 75 and 95 per cent lung infection, respectively. The woman too had severe lung involvement, and hence was hospitalised since the last 40 days. All of them were given medical care according to the protocol with antivirals. Besides physiotherapy, ventilator and procedures such as intercostal drain were also used as a part of the treatment.

The senior official requested the public to approach government hospitals early as it would go a long way in their successful treatment and recovery.
