Tiruppur ULB to re-lay 111.72km long city roads

TIRUPPUR, Tamil Nadu: The Tiruppur Municipal Corporation will be re-laying the 111.72 km long city road network, dug to lay the drinking water and underground drainage pipelines.

For re-laying the dug-up city roads, the corporation will be using three funds— Tamil Nadu Urban Road Infrastructure Project (TURIP), State Finance Commission Urban Road Development Fund, and Nagarapura Salai Mempattu Thittam. The local body will spend ₹63.52 crore to rebuild 748 identified stretches.

City Mayor N Dinesh Kumar, Commissioner Pavankumar G Giriyappanavar, and other senior city officials initiated the construction works in some city wards. In the remaining wards, city councillors are responsible for starting repair work.

In zone I, 205 stretches of 24.88 km need to be repaired at the cost of ₹13.67 crore. In zone II, the civic body has to spend ₹12.43 crore to re-lay 19.45 km long 143 stretches. Similarly, in Zone III, 204 stretches with an overall length of 29.94 km will be repaired at the cost of ₹17.04 crore and in Zone IV, ₹20.37 crore will be required to repair 228 stretches with a length of 36.53 km.

The Municipal Commissioner announced that the road repair work would be completed within three months.
