NEW DELHI: Three municipal corporations of Delhi namely North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC), East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) and South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) chose their mayors and deputy mayors on Wednesday, June 16. Raja Iqbal Singh was elected the mayor of NDMC, Shyam Aggarwal of EDMC, and Mukesh Suryan of SDMC. Archana Dilip Singh, Kiran Vaidya and Pawan Sharma were elected as the deputy mayors of NDMC, EDMC, and SDMC respectively.

The outgoing mayors of the three municipal corporations are Jai Prakash, Anamika Mithilesh and Nirmala Jain. The Bharatiya Janata Party has a clear majority in all three municipal bodies so the nominees for the post were elected unopposed.

The election of the mayors and deputy mayors were to be conducted in April but they were delayed by two months due to the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
