NEW DELHI: In order to address the long-standing plea of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) employees’ Unions to end the division of three civic bodies a letter has been sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The unions of the three urban local bodies –the North Delhi Municipal Corporation, the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC), and the East Delhi Municipal Corporation, demand unification in view of the deteriorating condition of these three civic bodies. A letter stating this issue has been written to PM Modi by the confederation of MCD employees. Moreover, in the letter, the MCD employees also stated that forming a single municipal body will help solve the civic administration problems more efficiently. “If the central government moves with this decision, we will support it,” said Mukkesh Suryan, Mayor, SDMC. The plea was raised considering the frail financial condition of Delhi civic bodies, because of which employees are not receiving salaries on time. Problems concerning the salaries have never been this grim, MCD employees added.
