THANE: The Thane Municipal Corporation became the first corporation in India to fully implement blockchain technology in its Property Tax Assessment software. The initiative is taken as a first step towards flagship program of MoHUA – ‘Accelerating Growth of New India’s Innovation’ (AGNIi). The inclusion of block chain based technology will help the corporation to eliminate multiple pain points by tracking late payments, monitoring collection targets, facilitating inter-department coordination, dispute resolution and recording non-delivery of bills.
A Hyderabad based startup VeriDoc Global India, is the company behind integrating the latest tech into the system of civic body. The one-scan-away information provider will be ubiquitously sharing initially onboard data with most current updates for the benefit of various stakeholders.
Sameer Unhale, CEO of Thane Smart City and Additional Municipal Commissioner, TMC, further stated that TMC is the first civic body in the country to implement Blockchain-based technology for its Property Tax Assessment and this technology intervention can help in eliminating the threat of forged and fake documents besides, significantly reducing tedious paperwork.
