HYDERABAD, Telangana: Telangana Forest Department, in a recent statement, has informed that nearly 1,30,78,300 saplings were planted in over 12,500 gram panchayats and urban local bodies in the state.
The programme titled, ‘Koti Vruksharchana’, under which the plantation exercise took place in Telangana, was launched by A Indrakaran Reddy, Minister for Forest, Government of Telangana, in Chilkur reserve forest block situated on the outskirts of Hyderabad city.
Apart from the general public, nearly 49,455 elected public representatives partook in the plantation exercise. During the plantation exercise that took place on Saturday, 8,02,100 saplings were planted in the Nalgonda district, 6,02,213 in Sangareddy, 4,13,000 in the HMDA and 74,685 in Medchal-Malkajgiri district.
