HYDERABAD: In a bid to tackle spread of COVID-19, the Telangana state government issued a government order on April 08, banning spitting of any chewable non-tobacco or tobacco product or sputum in any public area.
Shanthi Kumari, Principal Secretary of Health said, “The COVID-19 pandemic has brought to the fore the importance of hygiene and cleanliness in both personal as well as public spheres which require the imposition of restrictions on unhealthy practices that may potentially lead to spread of such viruses and other infections.”
As of now there is no penal provisions imposed if one violate the ban, said Dr K Ramesh Reddy, Director of Medical Education.
