Telangana gets IT hub for expansion to tier 2 towns

HYDERABAD: As a push to take Information Technology (IT) beyond the state, Government of Telangana opened an IT hub on Monday, December 7, in Khammam town. K T Rama Rao, Minister of IT and Industries, Government of Telangana, inaugurated the facility. Around 19 companies started their operations in the hub, including some the from United States of America and Australia. It is built at the cost of Rs 27 crore on an area measuring 42,000 square feet.

Rao also announced the construction of a second IT hub with space of 30,000 to 40,000 square feet. Rs 20 crore of funds have already been released for the purpose. It also has a centre of Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge (TASK) to allow local students to get trained in the latest technologies.

Khammam is the third town (tier 2) to get its IT hub after Warangal and Karimnagar.
