GENEVA: Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Chief, World Health Organization (WHO), on Monday, September 8, while urging countries to invest in public health, said that the world must prepare itself in a better way for the next pandemic.

According to a Reuters tally, since the first cases were reported in China in December 2019, over 27.19 million people worldwide have been infected with the novel coronavirus and 888,326 have died. Tedros, during a news briefing in Geneva, said that this won’t be the last pandemic as history has shown that outbreaks and pandemics are a reality of life. But the world needs to be ready when the next pandemic comes, more than it was this time.
