Tamil Nadu goes green with launch of ‘Meendum Manjappai’ scheme

CHENNAI: Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu M K Stalin launched ‘Meendum Manjappai’ scheme on Thursday, December 23, to promote the use of cloth bag instead of plastic ones. He called upon the people to discourage the growing use of plastic in the state as it is harmful to the environment.

CM Stalin listed the harmful effects of single-use plastic products and added that there is a need to replace them with cloth bags. He added that if plastics are thrown away, it takes several years to decompose. Till now, 130 factories have been fined for violating the ban on single-use plastic.
