TAMBARAM, Tamil Nadu: Tambaram Municipal Corporation is yet to hold its regular council meeting, which has been pending for over a month now. As per the Tami Nadu Urban Local Bodies Rule, 2023, an urban local body must hold a council meeting at least once a month, but the council of the Tambaram Municipal Corporation last met on September 28.
Due to this delay in the meeting, councillors could not discuss development matters, including installation of LED lights, improvement of stormwater drains, maintenance of parks, etc.
D S Sivasamy, former Additional Municipal Administration Director, said, “During monsoon, the meetings must be held earlier. The municipal administration department can issue a notice asking the reason for skipping the council meeting.” He added that the department can dissolve the council if they skip the meeting.
