Gujarat adds seven more municipal corporations to its list GANDHINAGAR, Gujarat: The Government of Gujarat revealed its plan to elevate seven local bodies to the status of municipal corporations, in their budget 2024-25 announcement, thereby increasing the total number of such civic entities in the state to 15. Kanubhai Desai, the Finance Minister, of the Government of Gujarat, highlighted that the municipalities of Navsari, Gandhidham, Morbi, Vapi, Anad, Mehsana, and Surendranagar Wadhwan will undergo this transformation. Emphasising the importance of cities as hubs of economic development, Desai expressed the government's dedication to enhancing the quality of life through strategic urban development. The decision to confer municipal corporation status upon these seven municipalities is expected to stimulate development and enhance amenities for residents in these cities.
