DISPUR, Assam: Nearly 2.72 lakh people in 15 districts in Assam have been affected due to incessant rain-causing flood situation in the state. The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) has reported 874 villages under 37 revenue circles in Bajali, Baksa, Barpeta, Darrang, Dhubri, Dibrugarh, Goalpara, Golaghat, Jorhat, Kamrup, Lakhimpur, Nagaon, Nalbari, and Tamulpur districts are to be currently underwater.

GUWAHATI, Assam: After the Election Commission's decision to begin the delimitation of assembly and parliamentary constituencies on the basis of the 2001 Census, the Assam Cabinet decided to re-merge four newly formed districts with the existing ones. The Election Commissioners instructed the Chief Electoral Officer of Assam to raise the issue with the state administration and issue a blanket prohibition on the construction of new administrative units beginning on January 1, 2023, until the state's delimitation process was complete.
