Guwahati launches advanced mechanised waste collection fleet DISPUR, Assam: Guwahati city has revealed an advanced waste management fleet as part of its efforts to improve urban cleanliness and environmental sustainability. Mrigen Sarania, the Mayor, launched two advanced mechanised road sweeping machines and 60 e-Light Commercial Vehicles (E-LCVs) for door-to-door waste collection. This initiative will position the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) as a trailblazer in using e-LCVs for household garbage collection. The recently acquired automated road sweeping machines, worth Rs. 5.87 crores, will substantially enhance the tidiness of main roads under GMC's authority. These machines are specifically engineered to efficiently tackle dust and guarantee thorough street cleaning, making a substantial contribution to the city's general cleanliness. Several important figures attended the event, including the Deputy Speaker, Member, Mayor-in-Council, Joint Commissioners, Municipal Secretary, Collector, Assistant Commissioners, Executive Engineer of Janxala Branch, and Assistant Executive Engineer of Janxala Branch. Their presence emphasised the importance of this initiative for the city's growth and progress.
