NEW DELHI: The government’s cleanliness survey Swachh Survekshan 2020 released cleanliness rankings for the first two quarters on Tuesday, December 31, and ranked the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) area as the cleanest in the national capital. Delhi Cantonment Board (DCB) area was ranked the second cleanest.
Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of State (IC) Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) announced that the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) and the North Delhi Municipal Corporation were ranked very low as per the cleanliness survey results.
In the first quarter (April to June), the NDMC was ranked 20th nationally. However, it slipped to the 75th position in the second quarter rankings (July-September).
The East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) was ranked 2304 in the first quarter of the survey, but in the second quarter, it jumped up to 1116. Whereas, the North Corporation slipped from 2974 to 3722 position in the second quarter of the survey. The SDMC jumped up from rank 3871 in the first quarter to 1239th position in the second quarter. The DCB managed to secure 156th rank in the second quarter of the survey.
