PUNE: In order to mark Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary, the Government of Maharashtra has decided to set up ‘Swachh Bharat World University’ in Wardha. A seven-member committee, headed by Vinod Tawde, Education Minister of the state, has been formed in order to study the university’s requirements, including land, basic infrastructure and manpower and submit the same in a report in two months.
In order to promote and follow PM Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, the Maharashtra government has contributed in various ways and with the establishment of the university, it will play a pioneering role. The university will focus on research in the field of sanitation and cleanliness.
Wardha has been selected to establish the university as Mahatma Gandhi’s Sevagram Ashram is also located here.
