Students as health ambassadors to spread awareness on dengue prevention

SALEM: R Sadheesh, Municipal Commissioner, Salem Corporation distributed ambassador cards to students of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Kottai and interacted with them on spreading awareness about mosquito breeding and vector bourne diseases like dengue and malaria, on Monday, October 21.

Sadheesh administered an awareness pledge regarding prevention of dengue to the students.

During the interactive session, exhibits on mosquito breeding and conditions which could cause mosquito breeding were also used to make the students understand the gravity of the situation. The commissioner explained the seriousness of the diseases through exhibits and interacted with them on prevention measures that can be implemented.

Sadheesh said, all the schools in the vicinity of the corporation limits are made aware about the diseases and breeding of mosquitoes, also the corporation is conducting various awareness campaigns for the public about dengue prevention.

Further, to spread the awareness in a more effective manner the Commissioner tagged students as the ambassadors who will further spread the awareness about the city at their homes and in nearby localities. Also, to ensure students participation, the parents of the students have been asked to submit a letter stating the completion of the awareness program once done.
